Why dissolved oxygen, and why dawn
Intensive shrimp ponds reach their daily oxygen minimum just before sunrise, when respiration and night-time algal demand coincide. That hour shapes survival, feed intake and disease pressure for the whole crop — and it is the hour that surface aeration, running on a clock, covers least well.
NovaAquatech’s aquaculture line puts two things on the pond: nanobubble oxygenation that can hold a setpoint rather than merely top up saturation, and a probe set per pond that reads dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH and total ammonia nitrogen every 30 seconds into a local gateway.
What the pilot measured
The Bac Lieu pilot (GMX-NB-2026-01) runs six 1,500 m² ponds of Penaeus vannamei on a commercial farm: two nanobubble, four control, cohort-balanced, under a pre-specified protocol. Over 31 May – 13 August 2026 the nanobubble ponds held a dawn mean of 8.36 mg/L against 5.48 mg/L for control — a gap of +2.88 mg/L that survives re-specification by cohort and by day-matching. Every nanobubble pond-day was at or above 6 mg/L; nine control pond-days fell below 4 mg/L.
Production results — survival, FCR, growth, yield, energy and economics — read out at harvest on 29 August 2026; a data addendum will follow.
